It was meant to be the School’s gesture of appreciation to the teachers and the support staff for the hard work put in by them during the past year. The SAC and Alumni Management Committee were included by the School to give “added” significance to the function.
Both the teaching and support staff and members of the SAC and Alumni thoroughly enjoyed the high tea buffet spread. Everyone present had a good time, and the Alumni commented it was a kind gesture on the part of the School to invite the SAC and Alumni.

81st Prize Presentation day
The School proudly celebrated its 81st Prize Presentation Day on 9th April 2009. One of the School’s former distinguished sportsmen, Mr Richard Gomez was the Guest-of-Honour (GOH). Mr Gomez was Director of Personnel at Singapore Airlines Ltd at the time of his retirement.
In his speech at the Prize Presentation Ceremony, he called on the students to strive and set realistic goals and work their way up gradually. To inspire the students, he quoted an example of one of America’s greatest track & field athletes, Ms Wilma Rudolf. Born in 1940 with polio, Ms Rudolf did not give up but persevered, and improve a little at a time until she overcame her disability to not only walk normally, but went on to win the 100 metres bronze medal in
the Melbourne Olympics of 1956!
Two of his contemporaries, namely, Johnny Ang and Johnny Wee, who overcame great odds in their younger days to succeed in their later years, were also mentioned in his encouraging speech.
