Although there is no lack of scholarships currently available for studies at the local Post-Secondary Educational Institutions, the SSS Scholarship Fund (approved by MOE) has strategic objectives for Serangoon Secondary School because:
- By recognizing the students who have done well, the School can showcase them to those who are still in the School and inspire them to excel in their studies;
- The Scholarships re-connect and bond the different cohorts to their alma mater; and
- The Scholarships help to strengthen the students? sense of belonging, and enhance their stake in Serangoon Secondary School.

Applications for the Scholarships are confined to Singapore citizens, who have graduated from Serangoon Secondary School, and are not in receipt of any other type of award. The criteria for selection shall be based on merit and participation in co-curricular activities.
All donations to the SSS Scholarship Fund from Alumni and non-Alumni members, and from well-wishers, will be tax-exempt. Tax-Deductible Receipts (TDR)(subject to prevailing requirements imposed by the relevant authorities) shall be issued to all donors by Serangoon Secondary School.
