Teachers’ Day Dinner 2008

Teachers Day Dinner was celebrated on 29 August 2008 at the Qian Xi (Farrer Park) Restaurant, Civil Service Club, Tessensohn Road

Over 80 teachers and non-teaching staff were present. The Principal, Mr Yeo Kuerk Heng, Vice-Principal Mr Richard Phua, School Advisory Committee (SAC) Members and Serangoon Alumni Management Committee Members were also there to grace the occasion.

The theme for the night was the “Awards Show”. It was styled after the Hollywood Academy Awards. One of the Awards presented was the Environmentalist Awards. Others include the Best Female and Best Male Awards. The teachers enjoyed it thoroughly.

As in previous year, the 8-course Chinese Dinner was hosted bt the SAC to reward the teachers for the tremendous effort and dedication they have put in the past year to give students a well-rounded education.

All those present had a wonderful time. It was the only time they could let their hair down. They also relished the food not forgetting the fun and games and lucky draw prizes some walked home with.

They look forward to the next Teachers’ Day Dinner.

New School Principal

The School has a new Principal. He is Mr Yeo Kuerk Heng. Mr Yeo, who is 46 years old, was the former Principal of Nan Chiau High for six(6) months before he was appointed Principal of Serangoon Secondary School upon the retirement of of the former Principal, Mr Dilbagh Singh. Prior to that he was Principal of Siglap Secondary School.

A visionary, Mr Yeo has bold plans to raise the academic standards in Serangoon, and at the same time maintain the high standards of co-curricular activities.

The Alumni support him in his challenges to bring the level of academic excellence to new heights.
